When you hit the central locking button on the remote the affected door often won t lock or won t unlock if it was already locked.

By which i mean lock all the doors the car and disconnect the battery.
Somebody suggested disconnecting the battery for a bit and then reconnecting in the hope the central locking would reset itself but it has not made a difference.

The nearside rear door on my s max has a bit of an issue with locking.
The issue tends to start out intermittent and then worsen with time.
Each mech contains the cable that unlocks the door and the rod iirc you just have to re attach the rod to the exterior door handle.
I have pulled the door card off and checked the cable from the button to the lock and lubricated it but it seems to move freely.
Sometimes it will lock and sometimes it wont.
Leave for 10 15 minutes and reconnect make sure you have the radio code etc beforehand.
Again if one door doesn t work but others do the problem could be with the door lock solenoid.

Hi all just picked up a 2004 cooper s and discovered it has a central locking problem with just the drivers door.
It is possible to strip the unit down to repair it however it s not without.
If the remote still operates the drivers side door lock and it will manually unlock with the key it s possible the central lock mechanism in the drivers door is no longer sending a signal to all the other doors to lock unlock.
If the lock isn t getting power hold the lock switch either up or down and then open and close the door repeatedly to see if the lock will work.
